The Junior Elementary

Children ages 6-9 use the motivation and self-discipline learned in the Children's House to discover history and science, art and culture. Basic writing, reading and math skills are refined through individual and small group lessons. Active learning with hands-on tasks supports the growth of social skills, reflection and the ability to "figure things out" -- qualities needed throughout life.

We touch children's imaginations and kindle in them a love of learning and a wonder about their world.

There is an order in the world,

an order both material and moral,

of which the child is the center.

--Jean Piaget

The Advanced Elementary

Students, ages 9-12, sharpen their study habits for high school and college and develop a personal value system that will enable them to consider career options and make a positive contribution to the community.

We expose these older children to a range of intellectual, physical and social activities. Research projects offer avenues to learn about our world, its economic, political and social systems. Independent lessons in math, science and the arts foster natural talents and provide a strong foundation for later learning.
